Ett livsstilsboende med hästen i centrum ger många fördelar för de som bor där. De kan t.ex. dela skötseln av sina hästar med andra eller köpa tjänster dessa tjänster, vilket frigör tid för andra aktiviteter, semester, sjukdom eller att bara vara ledig. Att människor med samma intresse bor på området gör att man kan dela med sig av sina egna kunskaper och få nya tips och idéer från andra, vilket gör att man utvecklas som människa inom sitt hästintresse.

Ett livsstilsboende kan ta sig olika former. På Julmyra Horse Center kretsar boendet kring hästar. Det kallas ibland hästby, hästgårdsby eller hästnära boende. Kärt barn har många namn…  I boken ”Hästen i kommunen – betyder mer än du tror” beskrivs Julmyra Horse Center som exempel på en hästby. Boken är framtagen av HNS, Hästnäringens Nationella Stiftelse, i samarbete med SLU Alnarp och med stöd från Jordbruksverket. Boken är en praktisk guide för kommunen medarbetare som belyser hästbranschens olika områden och villkor samt ger handgripliga råd om vad kommunerna kan göra.

Att Julmyra Horse Center är en unik anläggning inte bara i Sverige utan även i Norden, bevisas av att ett 30-tal olika kommuner från Sverige samt kommunrepresentanter från Norge och Finland besökt Julmyra Horse Center för att se hur ett hästsamhälle kan byggas upp.

På Julmyra’s anläggning finns travbanor, galoppbana, ett stort nybyggt ridhus om 30 x 84 meter (ett av Sveriges större ridhus), flera kilometer belysta ridvägar, backbana, gott om hagar och betesmark samt flera mil ridstigar runt området. Här finns även ett 100-tal avstyckade tomter där man kan bygga sitt drömboende i form av en villa, parhus eller en egen hästgård med bostad och stall. Framöver planeras även ett antal mindre lägenheter att byggas för att möta efterfrågan från de som ej har behov av en villa eller parhus.

På Julmyra Horse Center kan du som vill ha ett hästnära boende bo på en egen hästgård i en hästby där alla delar samma intresse – hästar.

I dagsläget, mars 2012, bor ett 30-tal familjer på Julmyra Horse Center och det finns ett 100-tal hästar på området. Det finns flera stall men endast ett fåtal boxar lediga för uthyrning. Därför planeras nu byggnation av ett stall till med kapacitet för upp till 60 hästar.  Det nya stallet beräknas även ta tillvara på senaste forskning och teknik för att bli en miljö där både människor och hästar trivs samtidigt som det blir lättarbetat med hög grad av mekanisering, vilket spar både tid, pengar och hästskötarnas kroppar.
